About User Roles
BEACON stores a lot of sensitive data–customer names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and other things that by law or regulation must remain private and secure. BEACON users range from utility managers and customer service representatives to field technicians. To control who has access to what data and by extension the pages of BEACON where that information is displayed, each user is assigned one of four Roles: Admin, Support, Installer and Manager.
The Manager role lets you grant district, department and proptery managers access to limited, customizable meter/account groups.
In addition, user roles determine who can import data on the Assets>System Sync page, who can export data via the Monitor page and with the Web Services APIs, and who can create field assignments from the Monitor page Actions menu.
Role Description Owner An Owner is the person responsible for the utility. Like an Admin, an Owner can provision, import and export data, edit cards, and invite other users. Only Badger Meter personnel can create an Owner. Admin An Admin user can provision, import and export data, edit cards and invite other users. Support A Support user has a read-only view of the system. They cannot provision or edit cards or invite other users. Installer An Installer can view the Monitor page, and get read-only access to Endpoints. Manager This user can view the At a Glance and Monitor pages. Visibility control for a Manager is done by saved filter in BEACON.
