BEACON will soon have a new User Interface (UI). This new interface provides a more optimized experience that uses all the available space on your computer monitor screen. That said, you can switch to the original user interface via the Switch to Old UI link in the bottom left corner of the BEACON interface.
To view the original user interface documentation hover your cursor over the Original UI tab and click the page of interest. To view the new interface documentation click the BEACON New UI tab and click the page of interest.
This document provides a brief overview of the new user interface.
BEACON is a web-based software application. To use it, all you need is an Internet-enabled device — for example, a PC, a tablet or a smartphone — a supported web browser, a username and password.
Supported web browsers include the latest and next previous major releases of Google® Chrome, Microsoft® Edge™, Mozilla® Firefox®, Microsoft® Internet Explorer® (IE 11 only); and Apple® Safari®.
Engagement, Customers and Field Director pages are visible to customers with access to services such as Field Director, ORION Mobile Read and EyeOnWater.
The navigation bar on the left side of the screen lets you access any page by clicking its name.
Click the arrows (^) next to System Sync, Engagement, Users and Utility Settings to expand or collapse those menus. When expanded, related pages are displayed. When collapsed, hover your cursor over an icon to display related pages.
If portions of the navigation bar are hidden, use the scroll bar to access them.
The navigation bar is open by default. To collapse it, click the <—| icon on the bottom left portion of the navigation bar. Click the icon again to toggle the bar open. When closed, only the navigation icons are displayed, optimizing the display area of the interface.
The search icon in the upper right corner of the screen lets you enter serial numbers, location IDs, meter IDs, customer names and other keywords to quickly locate items of interest. Search results are displayed on the Monitor page, regardless of the page the search was performed on.
Click ? in the upper right to get context-sensitive BEACON Help.
Expand the User Profile section by clicking on the circle to reveal user details and the language selector.
