Rollovers

Q: What are “rollovers,” and how does BEACON handle them?
A: Rollovers occur when a meter encoder register reaches its maximum reading and reverts to zero, for example, when it goes from 99999 to 00000. BEACON uses a rollover detection algorithm to accurately calculate flow for time periods during which rollovers occur. When the algorithm is applied, a reading on an 8-dial encoder register that goes from 99999678 to 00000123 correlates to flow of 123+(99999999-99999678) = 444.
