Read Resolution Values

Read Resolution determines where the decimal point goes in a raw encoder read. Getting the correct resolution–and recording it in BEACON–is essential for accurate customer billing. Read Resolution is based on a combination of factors: meter model and size, encoder type, unit of measure (gallon, cubic foot or cubic meter) and the type of endpoint that is attached to the encoder.

For more information on determining the read resolution of ORION and GALAXY endpoints connected to Badger Meter Recordall® Series meters with Badger Meter HR-E, HR-E LCD high resolution encoders, RTR registers, ADE® encoders or Badger Meter E-Series® meters with High-Resolution encoders, see the following application data sheets on BadgerMeter.com:

To use the tables provided in these documents, locate the Unit of Measure, Meter Model, Size, and number of dials that match the meter then refer to the Resolution Code/Multiplier table to the right. For additional information, contact Badger Meter Technical Support.

To obtain the read resolution of encoders made by third parties, consult with their manufacturers.
