BEACON Exception History Exports from the Monitor page and from the Export Data Service v1 and v2 APIs return the following exceptions reported by meters, endpoints and encoders. NOTE: Exception History exports do not include exceptions that are calculated by BEACON, for example, Leaks, Continuous Flow, Reverse Flow, etc.
| Exception | Description | Source |
| Encoder Leak | An event indicating that the encoder detected continuous flow for 24 consecutive hours. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Encoder No Usage | An event indicating that no usage has been detected for 30 or more consecutive days. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Endpoint Tamper | An exception triggered by a break in communication between the endpoint and the encoder. Typically occurs when the wire between the meter and endpoint has been cut or disconnected.
Clears after the endpoint communicates and the connection has been re-established and the endpoint communicates. RTR encoders connected to ORION CE/ME/SE endpoints require reprogramming to clear the tamper. |
Detected by the endpoint. |
| Encoder Empty Pipe | This alarm is triggered when the encoder senses an empty pipe, a condition that prevents accurate readings from being obtained by E-Series meters. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Endpoint Leak | AMR meters: An alert sent by the endpoint to the collection device during reading.
Endpoints affected:
Once the leak is corrected, the alert will clear after the next regular endpoint transmission.
|
AMR: Alert sent by the collection device. |
| Encoder Removal | When an HR-E LCD encoder is removed from the meter this alarm is triggered. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Endpoint No Usage | AMR meters: A flag set when no usage is detected for more than 30 days.
Endpoints affected:
Auto clears with usage. * ORION CE endpoints with serial numbers between 70000000 and 79999999 are not included in No Recent Flow counts.
|
AMR: Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Encoder Reverse Flow | A flag set when reverse flow is detected.
Endpoints affected:
Clears the next time no reverse flow is detected. |
Flag set by the encoder. |
| Encoder Temperature | This alarm indicates an HR-E LCD encoder or an E-Series meter is approaching the limit of its rated operating temperature. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Encoder Sensor Error | This alarm is triggered when there is a problem with the sensor on an E-Series encoder that prevents readings from being properly obtained. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Encoder Exceeding Max Flow | An exception triggered when flow through the meter is greater than the theoretical maximum based on the meter size. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Endpoint Reverse Flow | AMR meters: A flag set when reverse flow is detected.
Endpoints affected:
Clears the next time no reverse flow is detected. |
Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Endpoint Reading Changed | This flag is triggered when the reading is changed on an RTR encoder connected to an ORION ME or ORION SE endpoint. | Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Water Pressure Sensor Error | An alarm triggered when there is a problem with the sensor on an E-Series meter that prevents data from being properly obtained. The error could be transient and clear itself or a permanent sensor failure. | Flag set by the sensor. |
| Endpoint Reading Missed | Set when a mobile reader gets within range of a reading location and no read is collected.
Endpoints affected:
|
Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Water Temperature Sensor Error | An exception indicating that there is an error with the water temperature sensor on the meter. | Flag set by the sensor. |
| Endpoint Programmed | Indicates endpoint parameters have been changed. This notification will last 35 days.
Endpoints affected:
|
Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Meter Temperature Sensor Error | An alarm triggered when there is a problem with the sensor on an E-Series meter that prevents data from being properly obtained. The error could be transient and clear itself or a permanent sensor failure. | Flag set by the sensor. |
| Endpoint Cover Removed | An alarm triggered when the lid over the encoder register of a gas meter is lifted, breaking the magnetic coupling that keeps the lid shut. Endpoints affected: ORION CE. | Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Endpoint Forced Transmission | This flag indicates network transmission has been forced from a GALAXY TR3 endpoint. | Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Encoder Low Temperature | This alarm indicates an HR-E LCD encoder or an E-Series meter is approaching the limit of its rated operating temperature. | Flag set by the encoder. |
| Encoder Magnetic Tamper | This alarm indicates that a high strength magnet might have been used to tamper with the HR-E LCD encoder. | Flag set by the endpoint. |
| Endpoint Low Battery | An alarm triggered when an algorithm detects low battery strength. | For ORION ME and ORION SE endpoints, the endpoint handles the calculation. For ORION Cellular endpoints, BEACON handles the calculation. ORION CE endpoints do not have a battery strength algorithm. Their battery life expectancy is 20 years. |
