The Catalog page lets you view and manage events.
Recent events are events that occurred during the previous seven days from “now.”
By default, All Events are displayed.

About Events
Events are user-definable conditions that when met become active events. When the conditions are no longer met, the event has ended.
Events apply to network meters.

Notice the Event Name along with its description, a count of active events, the date the event was last edited, and the name of the entity that configured the event are shown.
To jump to a specific event, start typing its name in the search box. As you type, BEACON looks ahead and displays matching results. In this example, typing “no comm” returned three matches or hits. Notice that the number of hits is displayed in the lower left corner.
Search results are paginated.
Use the N / page drop-down menu in the lower right portion of the screen to select the number of results to display.
Set Up Events
To configure or set up an event, do the following:
1. Click Set Up Event in the upper right corner of the page. This opens the Set Up Events drawer.
2. If desired, use the Create from template drop-down menu to select one of:
- Continuous Flow
- No Communication
- Irrigation Monitoring
- Vacant Monitoring
- Reverse Flow
- Water Temperature
- Water Pressure
Templates help jump start the event configuration process. Each template opens with certain parameters already set. These preset parameters can be changed as desired.
- Enter an event name in the Name box.*
* = this step is required. - If desired, enter a description in the Description box.
- If you used a template, skip to step 6.
If you did not use a template, use the Set Condition drop-down menu* to choose one of:

- If desired, use the Additional functions to:
- Add Filters – Focus the event on a specific set of meters.
TIP: To quickly find a parameter, start typing its name. BEACON looks ahead and shows you parameters that match what you type. - Schedule – select Watch to set dates and times to monitor. Select Ignore to set times and dates to skip monitoring.
Click +Add Time Period to focus on specific days and times of the week. Repeat this step as needed. - Set Start and End dates – Use the calendars to focus events on the selected dates. In addition, start dates can be in the past. This lets you get a history of events.
- When finished, click Save. Notice the system previews event statistics based on the current set of parameters. Use this feature to adjust parameters as needed.Admin users can click the pencil icon to edit the corresponding event.
TIP: To pause notifications, change the End Date to “today.” Alternately, set its Start Date to sometime in the future.
Click the number in any row of the Active Events column to jump to the Explore page to see details for the affected meters.
Click an up/down arrow icon such as the one circled in red below next to any field in the Event table to change the sort order.
Notifications
To be notified by email or text message when an event is triggered, do the following:
- From the Catalog page, locate an event of interest, click the corresponding three vertical dots icon under Actions, and select Edit to open the Set Up Events drawer.
NOTE: Click Delete to erase the event. Click Copy to create a duplicate event that you can edit. This lets you use an existing event as the basis for a new event.
- Click the Notifications tab. This opens the Notifications menu in the drawer.

- Click +Add Recipient.

- Use the Delivery Method drop-down menu and select one of: Email or Text Message.

- Enter one of:
• The recipient’s full name and email address in the corresponding fields.
• The recipient’s phone number.NOTE: SMS text messages require users to opt-in. If a user chooses to opt-out, no messages will be sent to that user. Also, opt-in messages never expire. - Use the Daily Limit drop-down menu to choose the maximum number of notifications sent on a daily basis.
Note: You can choose to receive up to 20 notifications per day. - Click Save to store the settings. Click Cancel to exit.
- Repeat Steps 2-6 as needed.
The Event Search box lets you quickly find an event by entering its name, description, or a notification recipient name.

Notification Statuses
| Status | Definition |
| Active | The conditions defined in the corresponding event have been met. |
| Activate | Restart a paused notification. |
| Invalid | The provided email address is not a valid address. |
| Paused | The system is set to temporarily pause notifications for the corresponding notification. |
| Opt-In Required | The user has not yet accepted the invitation to receive the corresponding notification. |
Change Log Tab
To get details about who created or edited a notification, do the following:
- Click Change Log. This displays an activity log related to the specific event notification being viewed.
